F.A.Q. - Ricky Cheung Photography

Frequently Asked Questions

What is your style?

A blend of modern portraiture with a touch of lifestyle photojournalism.

What equipment do you use?

I typically shoot Canon equipment. Currently, 5d III cameras with a rolling bag of L glass, but I love my iPhone it works just as well with the right light. iPhone wedding photography anyone?

Do you carry insurance?

Absolutely. Industry standard.

Do you edit the photos from the wedding day?

Yes. All your wedding photos will be color corrected, edited and given that extra Ricky Cheung flavor.

What is the online gallery?

After your wedding day, you will receive a personal online wedding gallery URL with all your photos to review and share with your friends and family.

Can I make my own prints from my wedding day photos?

Yes. You will have personal rights to print and reproduce your wedding day photos.

Do you shoot engagement sessions?

Yes I do.

Do you travel for weddings?

Absolutely, I love to travel. I’ve been as far as Hawaii for destination weddings.

Do you require a meal on our wedding day?

Working for 8-12 hours on your feet, running around a capturing real moments can make anyone hungry, a meal is always appreciated.

When should I book my photographer?

I recommend booking when your ready but please remember your wedding date might already be booked if you wait too long. Most of my brides book 8 months to 1.5 years in advance.

Can you hold on to my wedding date?

Unfortunately, I cannot hold dates for your wedding. A contract with a deposit can make the magic happen.

Do you have a 2nd photographer?

I have trained second photographer(s) who will join me if you decide to have a second photographer for your wedding day.

Do you work with a shot list?

I do no work with a shot list. My brides put full trust in me to document their wedding day as they have seen reviewing my portfolio. If there is a family formal shot list you would like to have captured, I can certainly do that.

You are a photojournalist but do you do formal photos?

As mentioned above, yes. Not a favorite amongst photographers, but I personally feel they are a necessary part of any wedding. What if grandma can no longer attend future events? I think you would love to have those photos in the near future. I think we all want some of those photos in our collection.

Do you only photograph weddings?

95% of my work is documenting wedding stories, the other 5% I venture off to wherever my camera takes me.

How long does it take to receive my wedding day photos?

After your wedding day, it takes about 5-6 weeks to have your wedding gallery ready for view.
